To be vaguely romantic doesn't involve inhabiting a Barbara Cartland, happily-ever-after fiction world. It is a day-to-day escapism, a domestic sublime, a knowing feel-good and a nagging optimism regardless of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Cynicism and current affairs are held to one side, as despite disappointments, the vaguely romantic quietly believes that somewhere nearby there is a place that can make you feel good.
This second show at Rosy Wilde features a group of artists whose paintings, text and drawings convey the sincerity and contradictions of the vaguely romantic.
